Hello and Welcome to The Duck and Brush,
I’m Jo - A Mum, Wife and self confessed lover of all things creative!
A few years ago things were very different. I found myself in a place I never expected to be—struggling with my mental health, feeling overwhelmed, and disconnected from the things that once brought me joy. Like so many of us, life had become busy, heavy, and a little bit too loud.
Then, almost by accident, I picked up a paintbrush.
What started as a simple moment of distraction turned into something much more powerful. Sitting down to paint—whether it was pottery or something small and playful—gave me space to breathe again. There was no pressure, no expectations… just colour, creativity, and calm. It became my escape, my therapy, and eventually, my passion.
And somewhere along the way, an idea began to grow…
What if I could create a space where others could feel this too?
That’s how The Duck and Brush was born.
A place where creativity isn’t about being “good” at art—it’s about enjoying the process. A place where families can laugh together, friends can reconnect, and individuals can simply switch off for a while. Whether you’re painting pottery, decorating a wooden duck, or just enjoying a coffee and a slice of cake, this is a space designed to feel warm, welcoming, and completely judgement-free.
We offer walk-in sessions, parties, workshops, and take-home kits—because creativity should fit into real life, not feel like another task on the list.
At its heart, The Duck and Brush is more than a studio.
It’s a reminder to slow down.
To create.
To reconnect—with yourself and with others.
Because sometimes, all it takes is a paintbrush… and a little bit of courage to begin again.
